London has some simply amazing venues available for hire, and whilst we are all familiar with the spaces for hire at St Paul’s Cathedral, the fabulous views from Altitude and the pomp and history behind the Tower of London, we may not be quite so familiar with venues which are available for events just a stone’s throw away from central London. Here is a selection of some of our favourites:
Fulham Palace – built in around 700 AD, this was the Bishop of London’s country home and rural retreat. Today it still provides that tranquil haven away from the hustle and bustle of London life. With close transport links by rail, tube or ferry, Fulham Palace solves many solutions for corporate clients looking to host conferences, receptions, celebratory dinners and Christmas parties. The extensive grounds, including a 3.5 acre Walled Garden, offer opportunity for corporate family fun days, fashion shoots, launches, and conferences. Seven rooms, two courtyards and 13 acres of gardens provide an abundance of different scenarios and solutions. The private event spaces at the palace are hired exclusively, so you really can make it your own for the day.
Kew Gardens – these world-renowned gardens and iconic buildings provide a unique and beautiful setting for any event. Choose from a wide range of formal and casual venues which can accommodate from 20 to 400 guests. Entertain in the famous glasshouses for the ultimate wow factor! Equally suitable for meetings, conferences, gala dinners, parties and weddings.
Syon Park – this beautiful mansion has been owned by the same family for more than 400 years. There are stunning rooms available for hire for corporate events and entertaining. If you are looking for a grand setting, river views, rolling meadows with herds of cows and you don’t want to leave London, then Syon Park is the venue. It even has a wonderful hotel just a few steps away – Hilton Syon Park, so what better than to entertain your clients or friends at Syon House and then wander off to bed without worrying about getting home.
Chiswick House and Garden – just a short way away from Syon Park, you can find this fine neo- Palladian villa which is set in magnificent gardens. Only evening hire is available here, but it makes the perfect setting for intimate dinners, awards ceremonies, drinks receptions and team-building.
The Hurlingham Club – another stunning venue set in 42 acres of grounds by the river in Fulham. Although it is a private members club, you can hire the Hurlingham Suite which can seat 1,000 for dinner, 1,200 for a standing reception and 600 for conferences. Just a 5 minute walk from Putney Bridge tube station, it is very easily accessible and it also boasts 300 parking spaces on site, some of which can be reserved for events.
Twickenham Stadium – this has to be one of London’s premium conference and event venues, with a unique location. With excellent facilities and a wealth of flexible interior space, Twickenham can effortlessly cater for large-scale business conferences, individual training seminars or meetings alike. In all there are 25 large dedicated conference spaces and rooms, many providing attendees and delegates with a view of the famous playing field that has inspired the national rugby team.
Chelsea FC – you can be forgiven for not knowing that Chelsea can offer anything other than football, but surprisingly it has some amazing spaces for hire for all types of events. Combining hotel bedrooms, adaptable meeting spaces and facilities, a choice of restaurants and an exclusive health club and spa with football from the most exciting league in the world, Chelsea Football Club is ideal for meetings and events in London of any kind. Stamford Bridge presents a host of superior event facilities. 24 function rooms and 60 syndicate rooms offer something for everyone, no matter what your event, be it for work or play, for 2 to 1,500 guests.
Finally we had to include the London Museum of Water & Steam by Kew Bridge – this is a venue like no other. From the moment you and your guests enter this magnificent 170-year-old monument to Victorian engineering, you are immersed in a bygone era. Whatever event you are planning, why not hold it at one of London’s most spectacular and dramatic venues – the London Museum of Water & Steam. The museum is set within a magnificent and atmospheric Victorian waterworks, where industry sits side by side with elegance. Your guests enter via the Grand Junction Engine House (housing the world’s largest working beam engine) and can truly enjoy a unique venue.
