The Waddington Studio in North Dalston is a photographer’s dream.   This highly versatile, purpose-built venue is ideal for all kinds of photography, and gives fantastic opportunities to achieve more unusual shots in what is essentially a blank canvas environment.

Simple additions such as the heavily patterned window cover in the main studio allow you to play with light, and create extra shape in your images.  It’s obvious that the person who designed the interior of this building was simply dying to do a shoot here as soon as the plans were drawn up – as they have incorporated fantastic features such as a simple contemporary floating staircase, which creates a stunning series of linear shadows in the afternoon sun on the white wall below it, as well as skylights in all the right places to ensure that every corner of the room is brightly and naturally lit.  Having said that, the entire facility can be instantly blacked out using the electric blackout blinds, to create a moody and atmospheric space.

There’s a 5.5m ceiling height here to allow for large pieces of set or props, as well as a small office facility for admin and editing purposes.  You have several backdrops, including a contemporary wooden paneled wall, a stunning display of floor to ceiling frosted glass windows, and a beautiful polished concrete floor.

The venue has been fitted with a bespoke sound system, so you can plug in and play the soundtrack of your choice at top quality and with no echo.  There’s also a dining area with a balcony overlooking the rooftops, and a hairdresser’s backwash sink.
