Appendix 3
Abbreviated Noise Protocol

The presence of noise sensitive premises close to the boundary of the HAC imposes constraints and limits on the type and scope of events that can be held at the HAC. This abbreviated noise protocol covers all events and activities inside Armoury House and on the Artillery Garden.

The organizers of all events at the HAC are required to comply with this protocol at all times. Organisers should note that these guideline criteria do not inhibit or restrain the Local Authority from exercising their statutory duties and powers.

Organisers must comply immediately with any request by the HAC management team to reduce the noise levels.

Events inside Armoury House (not including the Prince Consort Rooms)

All amplification equipment must be powered from electricity supplies which are controlled by a noise limiter. Noise limiters are provided in the Long Room and Ante Room. The levels are set at 96db. If the level of sound increases above this the power will be cut completely and there will be a delay whilst the limiter is reset.
All windows must remain closed at all times when amplified music is being played.

Events inside the Prince Consort Rooms
Whilst there is no noise limiter in the Prince Consort Rooms an acceptable level must be agreed with the Operations Manager prior to the start of the event. Organiser must immediately comply with any request by the HAC Management team to reduce the noise levels.

The Artillery Garden
For events in marquees please request the full noise protocol from the HAC Sales office.
Sound checks will be carried out by a member of the HAC management team at the commencement of an event on the Artillery Garden and an acceptable level set. This will be below 85db. Sound levels will be monitored throughout the event and any requests from the HAC management team to reduce the level of noise must be complied with immediately.

PA systems can be used to make announcements and speeches only. Continuous amplified commentary for It’s a Knockout style events is not permitted.

PA systems may not be used for events on the Artillery Garden after 2000 hours.
Unamplified music is permitted on the Artillery Garden provided that the noise levels do not exceed 85db. Such music must finish by 2000 hours.

Failure to comply with requests by the HAC management team regarding noise levels will result in the event being terminated. Under such circumstances there will be no recourse to the HAC for any compensation or return of monies.
